Dr. Gelvez-Petrone received her DDS in Colombia at the Colegio Odontologico Colombiano. She performed her residency in Colombia for the Comite de Cafeteros del Cauca where Dr. Gelvez-Petrone attended to the dental needs of local coffee workers in the rural village of Valle del Cauca. Upon coming to the United States, Mrs. Gelvez-Petrone received her B.S. in dental hygiene from NYU. She has attended to patients in Manhattan with Dr. John Scarola, and currently in Long Island in a multi-specialized practice where she focuses on OSA patients. Dr. Gelvez-Petrone is also a clinical dental instructor at NYU. In addition, she received her license in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy from the Academy of Orofacial Myofuntional Therapy in New York. She also studied with SomnoDent Fit in Stockholm, Sweden and has a background in Dental Sleep Medicine, Sleep Apnea, and Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome.
