The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first dental visit 6 months post eruption of your child’s first baby tooth. At this visit, we will check to make sure things are progressing normally. Beginning this early, when little or no work is necessary, leads to your child having a much more positive attitude about dentistry. We want your child to have the most comfortable experience with pediatric dentistry as possible.
Our office is handicap accessible and we welcome all children with special needs into our practice. Our pediatric dentists are trained in treating children with medical conditions and/or specific needs.
Our pediatric dentists will guide you when it is necessary to see an orthodontist and refer you to one of our specialists. This is generally sometime between 7-12 years old.
At ProHEALTH Dental, our orthodontists specialize in aligning your teeth using innovative treatments. This is usually done through the use of braces and retainers. There are many reasons why tooth extraction might be your best option. Sometimes a tooth that is so badly damaged or decayed it must be removed from the mouth all together. Extractions are also a viable option for those with a crowded mouth, infection or risk of infection.
Impacted Teeth/Wisdom Teeth Extraction
A tooth is considered “impacted” or entrapped when the ingrown tooth fails to emerge in the proper alignment. Thus, causing the tooth to be impacted between the jaw bone and the gum tissue. Impacted teeth can result in pain, swelling, discomfort and sometimes permanent damage to the teeth, bones or gums. Permanent damage can result in the formation of severe cysts or tumors. For this reason, our dentists recommend that patients with impacted teeth remove them surgically as soon as possible.
Root canals are performed by our Endodontists and is an extremely common procedure. Millions are performed each year in order to save teeth and relieve pain. Inside your tooth, under the hard-white enamel, lays a soft tissue called the pulp. This tissue helps to grow the root of your tooth during development. A root canal is called for, when there is inflammation or infection in the pulp. Our dentists will carefully remove the pulp to disinfect and clean the root canals.
Dental Implants are an alternate option to dentures and bridges in the treatment of tooth loss. Implants take the place of the tooth root to stabilize a prosthetic tooth in its place.
